Newly Added Interactive Websites:

Mrs. McGeough’s Classroom – Five Tough and Tiny Seeds

Spring is here! The sun is shining and the garden seeds are ready to be planted. Join Mrs. McGeough & Minnie too, as they read a story about a seeds journey to becoming their own plants. Learn a different language called PODDS and the signs for seeds, snake, bee, and hawk. Happy Friday from Mrs. McGeough & her crew.

Mrs. McGeough’s Classroom – The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs

Join Minnie and Mrs. McGeough to help the public dismantle the propaganda behind the story of the 3 Little Pigs.

Mrs. McGeough attempts to draw a picture of a big bad wolf. We learn the signs for cake, sugar, pig, wolf, and neighbour.  We also go through our breathing activities we participate in throughout the day.

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs is written by Jon Scieszka and illustrated by Lane Smith.

Have a great weekend folks.

Much love,

Mrs. McGeough

Mrs. McGeough’s Classroom – Panda Bear’s Secret

Hello Folks,

We have been missing you, especially on special days like your birthday.

Come along with Minnie and Mrs. McGeough to read about Panda Bear’s Secret.  What do you think the secret is?

Make a panda bear craft and watch Mrs. McGeough try to play the accordion. Learn the sign language signs for happy, happy birthday, mom, dad, panda bear, secret and accordion.  Book by Michaela Muntean.

Enjoy the book and the unruly accordion playing.  Minnie didn’t seem to like it.

Much love,

Mrs. McGeough

Play – get out your favorite activity whether it be cars, toys, stuffed animals or play in the backyard, go for a walk! Do something YOU enjoy! It’s okay to let students get creative, be creative and create!

Cooking – This is a great opportunity to have individuals work on their senses. Pick a meal and have the individuals help make it. Even if they do not eat it, the point of this activity is to work on.

Much love,

Mrs. McGeough

Mrs. McGeough’s Classroom – Poorly Pig

The story is called Poor Poorly Pig, but the only poor soul around this afternoon was Mrs. McGeough as she was having a rough time in terms of technology. This isn’t her best work, but she wanted to say hi before the weekend.

As Kenny Rogers says, “You gotta know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em.” And Mrs. McGeough definitely had to fold ‘em at this point.  Have a great weekend.

Mrs. McGeough’s Classroom – Big Pumpkin

Read “Big Pumpkin” by Erica Silverman with Mrs. McGeough and Minnie. Feel free to dress up in fun costumes before or after the story.  You can even have a make shift costume day at home (easy on the treats and sugar though).  Gather your goofy clothes or costumes to make your own fun.  Remember a lack of resources is sometimes the best recipe for perfect ingenuity.
Also, please don’t judge old Mrs. McGeough.  She only has so much storage space on her phone so her stories have to be rushed.  She will get this whole teaching through a camera lens and computer screen under control soon.
Also, say, “Hi” or “Bonjour” to our classroom mascot, Minnie.
Much Love,
Mrs. McGeough

Distance Learning for Young Adults with Different Abilities

Campus Regina Public Developmental Centre – Distance Learning Guide

Hello Parents, Caregivers, & Loved Ones,

I hope you are all doing well in these crazy times.  Please say hi to your child for us, we do miss them dearly.  We can’t wait to be back in the classroom with them.

Attached is a suggested/guided schedule developed especially for our students in mind.  Please don’t feel pressure to complete all of these each and every day on the hour by the hour (yikes).  This schedule and resources are simply here as a guide to help you and your child participate in school based activities (if you choose to do so).  We know that, although there is a pause, all of you are very busy folks. So, please apply these activities to best suit your family’s needs.  Know that the schedule and the activities are flexible, as well as,  adaptable.  Please make the learning experience your own.

Tip: Feel free to enlist the help of a sibling to navigate and establish learning routines.  For example:  Siblings or yourself can read a book of your choice during DEAR.  The idea is to simply read with your student, it does not have to be based on their preferences during each DEAR session.  Ultimately, the best thing for your student is to spend time and read with them.  When all else fails and you need a break, PLEASE check out the list of youtube.com channels available for your student (see below).  Each lesson and suggested channel is hyperlinked for your convenience.  For those of you like me, who are technologically not okay with life, this means you can click on the blue words and it will take you directly to the corresponding website.

Please contact me with any questions or issues.  You all know where to reach me or just e-mail me at: brittany.mcgeough@rbe.sk.ca

We will see you when we see you.

Warmly,

Mrs. McGeough
